Know Your Nutrients
Nutrients are broadly thought to be of two types - Macronutrients (those that are needed in relatively large amounts) and Micronutrients (those that are needed in smaller quantities).
Let’s break it down – Carbohydrates, Protein and Fats. Carbohydrates supply the body with energy needed to get us through the day. They are divided into two categories - Simple Carbs (these are instant energy-giving carbs that are absorbed quickly into the body) and Complex Carbs (these provide you with energy for longer periods of time). Protein is the source of raw materials that serve as the building blocks of our muscles. And lastly, Fats are essential to us all for building muscle and carrying out various functions of the body.
